From there, we will drive to Lesmurdie Falls to enjoy a short 15-minute walk to the lookout platform to watch the falls spill over the Darling Scarp and take in the beautiful views overlooking Perth. Then the option of an easy 1-hour walk through bushland along Lesmurdie Brook. You’ll hear about the thriving wetland biodiversity, Aboriginal cultural heritage and ecological restoration. There’s magnificent lake views, specialised observation platforms to observe the abundant bird life (bring binoculars), sculpture and art murals to admire plus plenty of shade, courtesy of some spectacular Moreton Bay fig trees. The perfect place for a morning walk with Glyde-In friends. Coffee to start at Lake Expresso followed by a delicious lunch at Tee Box Cafe after (both at own expense). The longest timber-piled jetty in the southern hemisphere, Busselton Jetty is also home to one of six underwater observatories in the world and a major tourist attraction in WA. Hear snippets from the history of the jetty - from the early residents’ reliance on ships for supplies, export of timber world-wide and the community’s fight to save the Jetty after its partial destruction by Cyclone Alby in April 1978. Based on the illustrated Reflections of the Jetty in 2005, the outcome of a writing project begun by Sue and some fellow members of the Busselton Oral History Group in 2002.
