The first book for Term 3 is The Colony, by Audrey Magee. This unique story is set 1979, on a remote Gaelic-speaking island off the west cost of Ireland during the time of the Irish ''troubles''. An English artist and a French linguist arrive on the island separately, stake out their parts of the island and islanders. A fictional exploration of what it is to be colonised and to be the coloniser, full of superb characters. A lyrical and emotionally powerful novel.
